Siemens offers energy-efficient strength supply solutions

Highlights of 2.3 MW of new wind turbines-gearless for low wind speeds, solutions for connecting offshore wind farms.

Hannover Fair this year introduced Siemens Energy intelligent solutions and environmentally friendly to produce electricity, transportation and distribution. Among the highlights of 2.3 MW of new wind turbines, low-speed gearless wind solutions for connecting offshore wind facilities in the technology of high voltage transmission direct current (HVDC) and charge point, which can carry electric vehicles with a rated capacity of lithium ion in an hour. They also presented new gas cells isolated and a prototype of 72.5 kV circuit breaker with a vacuum switch as the switching element.

For low wind speeds moderate Siemens Energy has developed a new generator for gearless wind power, which was presented in Hanover. The main generator SWT-0.3-113 2 is an innovative drive concept with a compact permanent magnet generator. This type of generator is characterized by its simple and robust, requiring no power for excitation and control, and do not slip ring. The result is a high efficiency even at low load. With a capacity of 2.3 megawatts (MW) and a rotor diameter of 113 meters, the new turbine is designed to maximize electricity generation at locations with low wind speeds moderate. It features the new Siemens blade B55 Quantum. This new blade design increases efficiency and optimizes performance. A prototype turbine Siemens new wind has been installed in the Netherlands in early March.
